Perhaps one of the greatest stories in BL Games, Kannagi No Tori is a story set in Kannagi-san (Kannagi Mountain), a place that connects the world of the living with the world of the dead. Kannagi No Tori or Birds of Kannagi live here and it is their job to transport the souls of the people on the brink of death to their ultimate end and to the world of the dead.
The central role in this story belongs to Ikaru. Depite being a kannagi no tori, Ikaru believes that people do not deserve to die. When he is sent to retrieve a soul, he would, accidentally on purpose, try to interfere with his subject’s death and save that person’s life. Because of this he has caught the attention of the higher kannagi no tori and was tasked to deliver his final mission and prove himself worthy of being a kannagi no tori. Otherwise, he will cease to exist in their world.
The soul that Ikaru is supposed to deliver is that of Watanaki Ruu, a young guy who will die in a car accident within a month’s time. A product of divorced parents who are still fighting custody over him, he lives with his uncle Fukamachi Yasunori. Ruu is a very kind person, not aggressive yet very gentle. Kannagi no tori are normally given the chance to interact with their subjects and Ikaru has grabbed this opportunity to get to know Ruu. Because of this, Ikaru felt more and more strongly about not letting Ruu die. Unfortunately, the friends of Ikaru, who likewise have strong emotional attachments with him, are just behind him to make certain that he will be able to complete his mission.
Hakkan and Renajku are these two persistent friends of Ikaru. Hakkan is a very funny and humorous person who calls Ikaru as chibi (runt) or gaki (brat) affectionately. In connection to Ruu, Hakkan is tasked to retrieve the soul of Manabe, Ruu’s uncle’s good friend.
Another kannagi no tori who is a friend of Ikaru and Hakkan is Renjaku. He is considered one of the elite kannagi no tori and has a very serious persona. He is often quiet and silent, very much unlike Hakkan. Further, he is strongly committed to seeing the completion of Ikaru’s mission.
Fukamachi Yasunori is Ruu’s uncle. He is a novelist and has lost a lover in the past. His kind bearing has allowed Ruu and Ikaru to form an affection for him. Manabe Akihito, meanwhile, is the brother of Fukamachi’s lover. He wanted to solve the mystery of his sister’s death and always goes to Fukamachi for answers which never satisfy him.
Kannagi No Tori contains lot of explicit graphics such as those scenes between the kannagi no tori. If sex is in your priority lists for games, you will definitely enjoy this one. What is also enjoyable about this game is that there are several available endings to it depending on the options the player chose. However, some people say that this is quite difficult to play. Luckily, the pleasure and satisfaction you can get from it will compensate for its hardness.
Kannagi no Tori is created by Studio Miris Team in 2002.
