News has it that two of Japan’s hottest actors, Watanabe Daisuke and Kyousuke Hamao, will be reprising in the gay film entitled Takumi Kun Series 3 opening this 2010. It will be directed by Yokoi Takeshi, based on a popular manga ‘Bibou no Detail’. However, the real question is, is it worth watching?
Curious about how the movie will turn out under Yokoi Takeshi’s direction, I immediately checked on it and learned as much as I can about the movie. The movie Takumi Kun is about two young guys, Takumi and Gii in their institute. The story mainly explores the love envelope in the tenants of an exclusive guy’s dormitory. Takumi is an individual of humble origins in the countryside all guys institute, where he met his new dorm roommate Gii. Gii has the looks and the grades to make him very popular in his class, plus, he is charismatic born in the United States.
Gii gets many admirers, whereas Takumi’s aloofness garnered him no friends at all. Gii is the only person who does not see Takumi as weird, and the two become friends. It is the roommates Takumi and Gii who find each other’s souls and become close.
It is actually a ghost story or mystery movie, where the gay couple visits a haunted clock tower where someone fell while making out. While sneaking in the institute, Gii and Takumi are caught by a teacher where they are being blackmailed. They are told to try to separate the teacher and individual he is in a relationship with. The movie has a unique combination of both a love story and horror movie, which makes the movie even more interesting.
The movie, as I have mentioned before, is based on a guy’s love novel by Shinobu Gotoh, which was later adopted into a six part series of manga by Kazumi Ohya. The main hero and focus of the story, as hinted in the title, is Takumi Hayama. The story will wholly take place in an exclusive guys institute, in the prestigious and secluded Shidou Academy.
For someone who has not read any of the books in the guy’s love Takumi-kun series, nor will who has had the time to watch the first two movies, the movie caused initial confusion on the storyline and characters. The movie concentrates more about what is happening to the couple rather than the love story of the couple. This makes it hard to catch up, but this makes the movie unusual and odd.
The 2010 guy’s love movie will be the third movie of the Takumi Kun series. Once again the drop dead gorgeous actors Watanabe Daisuke (Dai chan) and Hamao Kyousuke (Mao reprise their roles as Saki Giichi or Gii and Hayama Takumi, respectively. Moreover, the great Takiguchi Yukihiro will come back as Akaike Shouzo. Takumi Kun: Series 3 will open in theaters in the year 2010. Catch your favorite Japanese stars in their hardest roles just yet.
