Innocent explores the journey of 17 year old Eric, who is about to follow his parents to go on a “trip” to Canada. Eric is a gay chinese teenage boy who is just beginning to explore his gay side in Hong Kong. The night he is due to leave for Canada, he experiences a sexually charged moment together with a friend. However nothing materializes as both parties have no courage to initiate.
The next day, Eric is uprooted from his home land in Hong Kong, and arrives in Toronto. He then realizes that his parents have no intention of returning to Hong Kong. He soon finds comfort in his hunky cousin who helps him ease into his new situation. As he comes to terms with his homosexuality, Eric hooks up with an older man who has a taste for young Asian men at a gay bookstore. They soon become regular sex buddies.
Meanwhile, Eric also finds himself falling in love with this school mate and when he finally makes a move on the boy, everything falls apart. He gets outed in school and becomes a target of abuse. He then considers to escape his miseries by either returning to Hong Kong, or moving out of Canada.
