Happy Together 春光乍泄

A gay couple from Hong Kong, Ho Po-Wing (Leslie Cheung) and Lai Yiu-fai (Tony Leung Chiu Wai) visit Argentina to renew their lagging relationship. Lai is the committed one of the two, while Ho has a destructive personality and is unable to commit to a monogamous relationship.

When they arrive in Argentina, they get into an argument during a car ride, and break up. Lai deals with the break up by getting a job at the local nightclub, and tries to get over his heartbreak. On the other hand, Ho picks up numerous men and tries to hurt Lai by bringing them to the club that he works at. Lai is heartbroken and is nearly driven to the brink.

One day, Ho turns at Lai’s apartment, severely injured after getting beaten. Lai takes him in, tends to him back to health, and showers concern on him. During this period, they get back together. However, Ho soon goes back to his playboy ways and leaves Lai. Meanwhile, Lai befriends Chang, a Taiwanese at work, who helps Lai out of his depression. Lai finally realizes that his relationship with Ho can never work out and accepts the reality.

After a few months, Ho contacts Lai again. This time, Lai painfully turns him away, as he knows that their relationship will go nowhere…
