Ethan Mao is a coming of age drama that relates the tale of a gay guy. After being discovered to be gay by his dad, Ethan finds himself booted out of the house and survives on the street as a hustler. He then meets Remigio, a drug dealer cum hustler, who takes him in. Tipped off by his younger brother that is family will be going away for Thanksgiving, Ethan makes his way back to his house to collect his belongings together with Remigio.
Unfortunately, Ethan’s family returns early to discover the pair looting the house. Ethan’s father is furious and the scene turns ugly with a physical confrontation between the father and son. Ethan subsequently holds his dad at gunpoint and demands that his stepmother return his deceased mother’s necklace. As the necklace is held in a safety deposit box at the bank, Ethan and Remigio decide to hold his family hostage until the next morning.
As the hours pass, the tension between Ethan and his family escalate and they are finally forced to confront their unresolved misgivings and feelings in this suspenseful and touching movie.
