Synopsis:
Bath House, as the name suggests, is centered in a Bath House which most gay men are familiar with. For the uninitiated, bath house is a place where gay men go to relax, cruise, and hook up with other men.
The main character of the movie, Rico, is a young campus, gay, pinoy boy who is coming to terms with his sexual identity. He wants to fall in love, and not be like the rest of the gay men he knows, who sleep with a different sex partner each night.
He happens to meet charming heartthrob Cris one day on the bus, who gives him a discount to get into a gay bath house. Rico is smitten by Cris and decides to pop by, hoping to meet Cris in there. Rico steps into the world of towel clad men and back room sex, and meets Cris in there. The chemistry between them is tangible and intense. After that night, Rico thinks that Cris is the one true love that he has been waiting for, while Cris thinks otherwise. Cris is the biggest player in the bath house and he continues he conquest at the baths.
Rico is forced to go through a roller coaster ride of love, heart ache, jealousy and infidelity, as he hangs on to the pure and simple love he hopes to share with Cris.
actually the film is indeed a very good eye opener to all viewers, of what the gay life really is. it is the best type of movie that shows not only the sensualities of gay people but more on their life sacrifices. i believe that gays are not the monster type of people that only wants the sperm of mens but these are people who need an attention and care from people around them. we should advocate the gay freedom and right for respect.
I've been looking forward to this, especially since i've always enjoyed Crisaldo's works. The story really begins when Ric takes up Cris's offer and finds himself embroiled in an emotional ride.
From OF:
Cris is the biggest player at the bathhouse. Everyone wants him, and he's had just about everyone. He boasts of more than 2,000 sex partners. There you have your conflict. The young up-and-comer Rico looking for love in a bathhouse and pursing a player who is not too far away from being too old for most of the boys he chases. The film looks at what gay men want, is it sex or a relationship? Do they have it in them to commit to a relationship? What happens when the tables are turned and the one everyone once wanted is now the troll they avoid? ..
I've experienced all this before, and somehow this movie seems to be a reflection of my own life story...
